2001–02 Heineken Cup

The Heineken Cup 2001 /02 was the seventh edition of the Heineken Cup, the main European cup competition in rugby union. It involved 24 teams from six countries. The final took place on 25 May 2002 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff instead. Cup winners were for the second time in a row the Leicester Tigers in England, the Irish team Munster Rugby beat in the final.

Mode

The participants were divided into six groups of four teams. Each team played one home and one away match against the three group opponents. For the quarter final, qualified the six group winners and two best runners-up.

The points are distributed as follows:

  • 2 points for a win
  • 1 point for a draw
