2008 World Grand Prix (darts)

The Skybet World Grand Prix 2008 is a major tournament of the Professional Darts Corporation and was played Hotel in Dublin, Ireland from 6 to 12 October 2008 at City West. A peculiarity of the World Grand Prix is that the legs in the double -in double -out mode are played.

Defending champion was the English darts player James Wade, who, however, with 1:2 lost this year in the first round against his compatriot Tony Eccles.

New title slide was Phil Taylor, who won his eighth title overall with a 6-2 final win against Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld.

Prizes

A total of £ 250,000 was paid out in prize money.

Qualification

For the World Grand Prix 2008, the following players were qualified:

  • The 16 top-ranked players in the Order of Merit, of which the eight winners were set
  • The 14 top-ranked players in the Players Championship Order of Merit, which were not already eligible on the Order of Merit
  • Had the two top ranked players in the Players Championship Order of Merit from Ireland and Northern Ireland, which do not satisfy any of the above two criteria and participated in at least four Players Championships tournaments
