Defending champion Juan Martín del Potro was, who could not compete to defend their title this year due to injury. The final of denied Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, which won Nadal in four sets. Positive surprise, however, the seeded Russian Mikhail Youzhny twelve, which failed only in the semi-final on eventual winner Rafael Nadal.

The shock of the tournament succeeded Roger Federer in his first round match against Argentina's Brian Dabul when he curled a Passierschlag at a score of 6:1 5:3 after a Lop Dabuls through the legs and back to the network in the field.
