André Willms

André Willms ( born September 18, 1972 in Burg (near Magdeburg ) ) is a successful German rower.

Achievements

In 1990 he became Junior World Champion in the One and since then continuous until his career end of 2004, member of the German national team.

André Willms was world champion in the quadruple sculls in the years 1993, 1999 and 2001, as well as Olympic champion in 1992, 1996. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, he won the bronze medal in the quadruple sculls. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens Willms finished fifth in the quadruple sculls. In 1994 he became world champion in One, 1995 and 1997, respectively Vice World Champion. André Willms finished in 2004 his highly successful career. He was honored in Magdeburg with a star on the "Walk of Fame".

André Willms 2004 was sent by the FDP in Saxony- Anhalt in the Federal Assembly, the Horst Koehler elected to President of the Federal Republic of Germany.
