Aveiro District

The Aveiro District (Distrito de Aveiro) is a district of Portugal, who belongs to the traditional province of Beira Litoral, except some circles, which are among the Douro Litoral. The district is bordered to the north by the district of Porto, in the east of Viseu and Coimbra to the south; to the west lies the Atlantic Ocean. Physical Geography

The District of Aveiro lies mostly at an altitude of less than 100 meters. It includes a fully about 40 km wide coastal plain, which lies to the south of the district. The main rivers are Vouga, Cértima, Alfusqueiro, Agueda and Antuão. The north and east, the surface is hilly to mountainous. The coast consists of lagoons and Costa Nova is called, with a belt of dunes separates the sea from the quiet waters of the Ria de Aveiro.
