Babice nad Svitavou

The municipality Babice nad Svitavou ( German Babitz ) with an area of 1811 acres and 1067 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013) is located in Okres Brno- venkov ( Moravia ) and is about twelve miles from the county town of Brno. Through the village leads the Moravian Karst the border. There are picturesque landscapes with nature reserves and historic attractions in the surrounding area.

History

The first written mention of the village (as Babibcz ) dates from 1356. The village belonged probably to the lands of the castle Obřany. After disputes with the Brno castle was conquered and destroyed. John of Luxembourg gave the rule Obřany of Brno. On the site of the ruined castle, the castle was built Ronov and the government went to CENEK Krušina of Lichtenburg, later. To the Margrave Jan Heinrich and from 1410 to the Black Mountain of Boskowitz In 1604 it belonged to the lords of Pozořice. During the Thirty Years' War, the village was sacked twice and 1645 burned down. After 1648 it came to the new settlement. Further destruction suffered the place after the battle of Hradec Kralove. 1764 the first school was built in 1843 the railway.
