Kanice (Brno-Country District)

Kanice ( German Kanitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eleven kilometers northeast of the city center of Brno and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Kanice located in Drahany country. Surrounded by forest village is on the southern edge of the nature reserve Moravian Karst and will brook crossed by Bach Hlávečný. To the north, the Baba ( 496 m) and Vysoká rise ( 492 m ) and in the east the Skalka ( 478 m).

Neighboring towns are Habrůvka and Křtiny in the north, Brezina in the northeast, Nový Dvůr Lhotky and Obce in the east, Ochoz u Brna in the southeast, southwest, and Řícmanice in Ptačinek and Babice nad Svitavou in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the rule Nový hrad belonging to the settlement took place in 1365 as the property of Čeněk Krušina of Lichtenburg. Kanice consisted at that time of a gamekeeper's house and several houses where peasants lived Köhler and loggers. In addition, there was a lime kiln. After the destruction of the castle Nový hrad by the Swedes during the Thirty Years' War Kanice has been connected to the rule Pozořice. Since the 18th century Kanice belonged to as cadastral Řícmanice, both villages used a common seal.

After the abolition of patrimonial Kanice formed a part of the community Řícmanice in the District Commission Brno. Was established in 1867, the community Kanice. In the 50 houses of the village were living at that time 354 people. 1921 Kanice was assigned to the Okres Brno- venkov. Between 1948 and 1960 the town was part of the Okres Brno- okolí. Kanice now belongs to the micro-region Časnýř.

In Kanice is a part of the archives of the security services. It was held there, among other things, the documents of the communist secret Státní bezpečnost.
