Bavly

Bawly (Russian Бавлы; Tatar Баулы / Bawlı ) is a city in the Republic of Tatarstan (Russia) with 22,109 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city lies on the Bugulma - Belebeier heights in the extreme southeast of the Republic, about 370 km southeast of the Republic capital Kazan on the eponymous river Bawly (also Bawlinka ), which in the Ik, a left tributary of the Kama flows.

Bawly is the Republic of subordinated administratively directly and as the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

Nearest railway station is 40 km away Jutasa at the track Ulyanovsk - Tschischmy ( - Ufa ). Through the city leads the M5 highway Moscow - Samara - Chelyabinsk, which here from the street Kazan - Orenburg is crossed.

History

A place in the territory of the present town was founded (different data 1626-1755 ) in the 17th or 18th century; Bawly 1950 received the status of an urban-type settlement and on 17 September 1997 the town charter.

There is a town twinning to Kütahya in Turkey.
