Cadillac Escalade
The Escalade is a SUV - series of the U.S. car manufacturer Cadillac. As a basis for the series chassis are from the GM group, the Escalade serves the upper market segment. The first generation came to market in 1999.
The model is available in three body variants, which were introduced at different times:
- Escalade: Introduced in early 1999 variant based on the GMT -400 chassis, such as the Chevrolet Tahoe.
- ESV: Introduced in early 2002 long version based on the GMT -800 chassis, such as the Chevrolet Suburban.
- EXT: An introduced in mid-2002 pickup version based on the GMT -800 chassis.

The first generation of the Escalade was introduced as a direct competitor to the Lincoln Navigator in the spring of 1999. Served as a basis the GMT -400 chassis. The first generation of the Escalade proved by the terms of sales, however, as not very successful. In comparison to its direct competitors, the Escalade Lincoln Navigator the first generation was 45 hp weaker and had a lower peak torque.

The second generation was released in the fall of 2001 on the new GMT -800 chassis as a vehicle of model year 2002. Until the sale of the first generation both generations were sold at the same time. Visually, this generation is clearly from the predecessor. From this model year, both a 2WD and a 4WD system was offered.
In spring 2002, the first time the Escalade EXT was introduced. This pickup version has a cabin for five people who can climb through four doors. The longer by 610 mm EXT version is based on the longer chassis of the Chevrolet Suburban / GMC Yukon XL.
From autumn 2002, the Escalade ESV was available. This long-wheelbase version of the vehicle is also offered 610 mm more length and more space for luggage or an additional row of seats. Like the EXT version is based the ESV version on the longer chassis of the Chevrolet Suburban / GMC Yukon XL.
As motorization were two engines to choose from. The same from the model year Chevrolet Tahoe 5.3L Vortec 5300 V8 known as well as a high-output version of the 6.0L Vortec 6000 V8, which was installed in the GMC Yukon Denali of the same model year. As of early 2003, the ESP system " Stabilitrac " belonged to the standard equipment. In autumn 2003, the list of standard equipment has been enhanced again. Thus, the features included now individual seats in the rear and a tire pressure monitoring system ( in all models except for the EXT version).
Published in 2005 a Platinum edition of the vehicle. The optional equipment this version included 20-inch chrome wheels, heated and cooled cup holders, three DVD screens and some chrome trim.

The third generation of the Escalade, based on the GMT -900 chassis was introduced in the fall of 2006. In the first months of sales, the vehicles were only available as a 4WD variants, then as a 2WD variant. In contrast to the optical transition between the first and the second generation of the Escalade, this generation adds largely to the basic design of its predecessor. In general, the body was somewhat rounded and softer edge.
The third generation of the Cadillac Escalade is powered by a 6.2L Vortec 6200 V8. Furthermore, since the end of 2010, a 6.0L Vortec V8 6000 available as a full hybrid. Pure electric driving is thus for short distances up to 40 km / h.
Since the vehicle has a nearly complete complement of equipment, were only minor improvements in the various model years, as in 2009, for example, known from many Cadillac models, " Magne Ride " running gear over the years.
The Platinum Edition includes LED headlights, heated and cooled cup holders, rear view camera, higher quality leather upholstery, navigation system, DVD entertainment system and ventilated front seats.
As with its predecessor has been around since the spring of 2007, the third generation as a pick - variant EXT and long-wheelbase ESV. This time the EXT a mature length of 490 mm and the ESV provides an increase of 520 mm over the normal Escalade. The ESV is based on the Chevrolet Suburban / GMC Yukon XL, EXT on the Chevrolet Avalanche.
In Russia, the vehicle is sold under the name of Cadillac DUU.
