Carcès

Carcès ( Provençal Carces ) is a commune with 3360 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Var department in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

Geography

Carcès located in the center of the department at the confluence of the Argens and Caramy. The town is famous for its lake. The Lake Carcès also called Lac de la Fontaine d' Ajonc is a 1936 created reservoir, which is fed by Caramy in the Argens shortly before his mouth. It extends at a shore length of 8 kilometers over more than 100 acres.

Culture and sights

The Romanesque chapel of Notre -Dame-de - Carami from the 11th century is classified as a Monument Historique Inscrit.
