Chyšná

Chyšná ( German Chyschna ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located ten kilometers northwest of Cervena Řečice and belongs to Okres Pelhřimov.

Geography

Chyšná located in the southwest of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands on a ridge between two small tributaries to Martinický Potok ( Goldbach ). North-east rises the Kočihrady ( 561 m). To the southeast lies the Stauweiher Martinický fishpond.

Neighboring towns are Krčmy in the north, Skoranovice and Popovičky Dvůr in the northeast, Těškovice and Krčma in the east, Onšov and Marti u Onšova the southeast, Borek, Košetice, U Hánových and Nová Ves in the south, Červův Mlýn, Kramolín, Mikešův Mlýn and Jedlina in the southwest, Chýstovice and Čeněnice in the west and Malá Paseka and Růžkovy Lhotice in the northwest.

History

Archaeological finds dated to the Hallstatt period. Chyšná was built near the medieval trade route Via Humpolencis that led from Prague via Benešov, Vlašim, Čechtice, Krčmy, Onšov and Skoranovice through the Valley of Gold creek and on about Humpolec and Jihlava in the Balkans and the Middle East. Probably the area was the property of Slavnikiden. According to ancient scriptures, Duke of Slavnik Zlic build on the hill above Onšov a wooden church. Presumably, this was done in 980 during his lifetime Slavníks, the traditional date 995 is unlikely since Slavnik was murdered in 981 Libice nad Cidlinou. The first written mention of the village of Lhota Chyšná took place in 1305 in the wake of the purchase of Křivsoudov by John of Luxembourg.
