Dmitri Upper

Dmitry Sergeyevich Upper (Russian Дмитрий Сергеевич Уппер; born July 27, 1978 in Ust- Kamenogorsk ) is a Kazakhstani ice hockey player who stands since May 2012 at Barys Astana in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Dmitri Upper began his career as a hockey player with Torpedo Ust- Kamenogorsk, for the first team he made his debut in the Wysschaja League, the second Russian league was in the 1997/98 season. During the following season he moved to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. With his new team, he managed to move up to the first-class Super League. Subsequently, the winger played per a year in the Super League for Nizhny Novgorod and Ak Bars Kazan.

From 2001 to 2003 he was active for the capital club Spartak Moscow HK, before its city neighbors HK CSKA Moscow joined. In the latter he remained until 2007, before he returned to Spartak Moscow. With Spartak he took from 2008 to 2010 on the gaming operations of the newly formed Kontinental Hockey league.

For the season 2010/11 Upper switched to Atlant Mytischtschi. With the team he immediately reached the final of the Gagarin Cup, which, however, they lost against Salavat Yulaev Ufa.

In May 2012, Upper signed a two -year contract with Barys Astana.

Internationally

For Upper Kazakhstan took at junior level at the U20 Junior C World Cup 1996 and the U20 Junior B World Cup in 1997 and the U-20 Junior World Cup in 1998 in part. In the senior level, he stood Participate in the B World Championships in 1999 and 2000, the Division I World Championships in 2011 and 2013 and at the World Championships of the top division in 2004, 2005 and 2012 in the squad of his country. In addition, he represented Kazakhstan at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and at the Asian Winter Games 2011. For the latter he won with his team the gold medal. Also at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and the Olympic qualifiers for the 2014 Games in Sochi attended Upper. While in the decisive match against Latvia he managed to score, but still his team lost 2:3, so that the team from the Baltic States qualified for the Winter Games.
