Dow H. Drukker

Dow Henry Drukker ( born February 7, 1872 in Sneek, The Netherlands, † January 11, 1963 in Lake Wales, Florida ) was an American politician. Between 1914 and 1919 he represented the State of New Jersey in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Even in his youth came Dow Drukker from his Dutch homeland in the United States, where the family settled in Grand Rapids ( Michigan). He attended the public schools of his new home and moved in 1897, according to Passaic in New Jersey. There he worked in the banking industry. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party. Between 1906 and 1913 he sat in the County Council in Passaic County, which he chaired 1908-1912.

After the death of Mr Robert G. Bremner Drukker was at the due election for the seventh seat from New Jersey as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on April 7, 1914. After two re- elections he could remain until March 3, 1919 at the Congress. In this time of the First World War fell. In 1918 he gave up another candidacy.

Between 1916 and 1963, Drukker published the newspaper " Herald - News of Passaic - Clifton ". Since 1909 he was president of Union Building and Investment Co. In 1953, he supported the Netherlands to a storm surge. For his services in this matter he was beaten by Queen Juliana Knight of the Order of Orange- Nassau. Dow Drukker died on January 11, 1963 in Lake Wales and was buried in Paterson.
