Empersdorf is a municipality with 1316 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the judicial district or the district of Leibnitz in Styria.

Geography

Empersdorf is the northernmost municipality in the district of Leibnitz in the Austrian province of Styria.

Community structure

The municipality comprises the two villages (in brackets population as of 31 October 2011):

  • Empersdorf ( 448 )
  • Liebensdorf ( 879 )

The municipality comprises the cadastral Empersdorf.

History

To 1286 the present name was first mentioned Empersdorf. The local church as an autonomous body created in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, 1945 to 1955 she was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

Coat of arms

The award of the municipality coat of arms was made with effect from 1 February 1986. Blazon (Coat of Arms description): " In blue a silver patriarchal cross in wall anchors ending below beseitet each a slanted silver horseshoe. " '
