Pistorf (pronounced " Pistorf " or in dialect " Bischdorf " ) is a municipality with 1416 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in Leibnitz district in the Austrian state of Styria.

Pistorf located in southern Styria.

Community structure

The municipality comprises the following four localities ( in parentheses population as of 31 October 2011):

  • Dornach ( 97)
  • Maierhof (261 )
  • Pistorf (616 )
  • Sausal (436 )

The municipality comprises the cadastral Dornach, Mayerhof, Pistorf and Sausal at Pistorf.

History

A 1168 issued in Leibnitz deed first mentioned the name " Piscouistorf ". The local churches as autonomous bodies was 1850. 1882 broke away the cadastral Distelhof, Dornach, Pistorf, Maierhof and Sausal of the local church Gleinstatten and merged to form the new municipality Pistorf. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, 1945-1955, she was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

Mayor is Franz Koller ( ÖVP). The council is made up after the elections of 2010 are as follows:

The coat of arms shows " in a red shield with a silver shield in main vine cutting a rotgezierte silver miter ".
