Geography
Sankt Nikolai im Sausal is located in the district of Leibnitz in the Austrian province of Styria and is one of the main towns in the region Sausal.

History
The local church as an autonomous body created in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, 1945-1955, she was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

Coat of arms
The award of the municipality coat of arms was made with effect from 1 December 1961. Coat Description: In red and silver shield split right three golden adjoining spheres ( 1:2 ). On the left, divided by two colors silver and blue box impersonated diamonds.
