Geography

Wolfsberg is located in the district of Leibnitz in the Austrian province of Styria.

The municipality comprises the three villages (in brackets population as of 31 October 2011):

The municipality comprises the cadastral Marchtring and Wolfsberg.

History

Since about 1220 it is known that Wolf Mountain and the neighboring towns under the lordship of the Styrian Duke stood. They remained so until the 17th century. Then the landlord was to emancipation in 1848, located in the lower Mur rule Strasbourg. The local church as an autonomous body created in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, 1945-1955, she was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria. 1969, a part of the cadastral Marchtring was connected to the community.
