Wide village is to the end of 2014 a municipality with 1520 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013 ) in Leibnitz district in the Austrian state of Styria. As part of the municipality of structural reform in Styria it is merged in 2015 with the market town of Wildon, the new community will continue to bear the name of Wildon. This is based on the Styrian community structure reform law - StGsrG.

Geography

Wide village is situated between the rivers Mura and Kainach in southern Styria.

Community structure

On 1 January 1969, the municipality Kainach bei Wildon was incorporated. The municipality consists of the following cadastral since then (area 2001): Kainach 364.75 ha and 1023.86 ha wide village Villages (population 2011) are: Kainach bei Wildon (197 ) Lichendorf (112 ), Neudorf ob Wildon (298 ) and wide village ( 915 ).

Neighboring municipalities are (clockwise): Zwaring - Pöls, Wundschuh, Werndorf, Mellach, Stocking, Wildon and Hengsberg.

History

The local church as an autonomous body created in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, 1945-1955, she was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

Since 2009, the municipality together with the municipalities Hengsberg, Long, Lebring -St. Margaret, Stocking and Wildon small region Cultural Park Hengist.

The awarded on 1 May 1994 municipal coat of arms " In an Iron Age shield black openwork gold trapeze, is between a deer foliage border " is derived from shod with bronze flakes found objects from.
