Ennery (Moselle)

Ennery ( Lorraine Enerchen ) is a commune with 1823 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Metz- Campagne and Canton Vigy.

Geography

The community Ennery lies on the Moselle, about half- way between Metz and Thionville at an altitude 154-228 m above sea level. The municipality covers 7.24 km ². To the north and west of the town are extensive industrial parks.

History

The town was first mentioned in 898 as Hunneriaca villa and was in the early Middle Ages still on the German - French language border, which later shifted further north ( for 1067, the German form of the name inverter connected). The Templars built here a castle, Château d' Ennery.

1915-18 was the place the German name Ennerchen and 1940-44 Hochschloß.
