EuroBasket 2005 Women

The European Basketball Championships 2005 Women ( officially: Euro Basket Women 2005) took place from 2 to 11 September 2005 in Turkey. It was the 30th European Athletics Championships.

The European Basketball Championship is a biennial basketball competition taking place between European teams, organized by FIBA Europe, the Basketball Federation in Europe.

Venues

The preliminary matches were held in Bursa and İzmir. From the quarter- finals was played in Ankara.

Preliminary round

In the preliminary round, six teams played in two groups against each other. The winner of the match was awarded two points, the loser one point. Stand a game at the end of regulation time draw, so there was extension.

After the preliminary competition, the first four qualified teams of a group for the quarter-finals. Subsequently, both the winners of the quarter finals met in the semifinals each other, and the losers in the "small semi-finals ." The best player of the tournament ( MVP), the Russian Maria Stepanova was chosen. In a total of eight games Stepanova scored an average of 18 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2 blocks per game. He had a hit rate of 53.1 % (60 of 113 ) from the field and 80.0 % (24 of 30) from the free throw line.

Ins All- Tournament team alongside teammate Tatiana Stepanova their Schtschogolewa, Amaya Valdemoro from Spain and the two Czechs Hana Machová and Eve Vítečková were elected.
