EuroBasket 1949

The 6th European Basketball Championship of Men ( officially: Euro Basket 1949) took place from 15 to 22 May 1949 in Cairo. In the absence of defending champion USSR and European vice-champion of Czechoslovakia host and EM medalist won in 1947 from Egypt, the gold medal. Silver went to France, Greece won the bronze medal. In addition to Egypt belonged to Syria and Lebanon, two more non-European teams the EM participants absence of its own continental championships.

Final round

It played seven teams in one group against another. The winner of the match was awarded two points, the loser one point. Stand a game at the end of regulation time draw, so there was extension. The final table of the group corresponded to the Final of the tournament. European champion was the group winner, Silver went to number 2 and so on.
