EuroBasket 1935

The first European Basketball Championship of Men ( officially: Euro Basket 1935) was held from 2 to 7 May 1935 in Geneva. First European champion Latvia. Silver went to Spain and Czechoslovakia won the bronze medal.

Preliminary round

In the preliminary round, ten teams played in a direct duel against each other. Three out of five winners were directly qualified for the final round, the other two winning teams (Italy and Switzerland ) had in another playoff game for the last free place in the final round of play.

Placement Round

The six excreted in the preliminary round teams played in the placement round for places 5 to 10 The unsuccessful in an elimination match between Switzerland and Belgium were set for the second round and had therefore to eighth place safely.

The winner came in the second round, the losers playing for 9th place

The winners play for 5th place, the losers to 7th place

Final round

The four victorious in the first round teams played in a knockout system for the gold medal. The winners of the semi-finals played in the final of the European Championship, the losers playing for 3rd place
