Failly

Failly is a commune with 559 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

The community failly located seven kilometers north-east of Metz downtown on the highway after Bouzonville. Through the west of the municipality is the auto route A4 (Paris- Strasbourg).

History

Today's church was established on 1 January 1974 by the merger of two villages:

  • Failly 914 was first mentioned as Fadilica and wore from 1915 to 1918 and from 1940 to 1944 the German name Failen. At the edge of the village past led from 1908 to 1944, the 574 m long railway bridge Nouilly, which was built of steel and the valley spanned. At the end of the Second World War, the bridge was blown up by the Germans in their retreat, and never rebuilt. The remains of the pillars can still be seen here and there.
  • Vrémy was first mentioned in 1296 as Virmiez and wore from 1915 to 1918 the German name Fremich and 1940-1944 Fremmingen. It is located a few kilometers from failly away.
