Fornjot ( Saturn XLII) is one of the smaller outer moons of the planet Saturn.
Discovery
The discovery of Fornjot by David C. Jewitt, Scott S. Sheppard Jan and Brian G. Marsden on Kleyna recordings of 12 December 2004 to 11 March 2005 it was announced on 3 May 2005. Fornjot first received the provisional designation S/2004 S 8 April 2007 (also Fornjot ), the father of Aegir (also Ægir or freezer), of Logi (including box ) and Kari the moon was then after the frost giants Fornjótr, from Norse Mythology.
Path data
Fornjot orbits Saturn at a retrograde eccentric orbit in about 1491 days. The orbital eccentricity is 0.206, the orbit is inclined with 170.4 ° to the ecliptic.

Fornjot has a diameter of approximately 6 km.
