Location and economic
The main town Geldermalsen located west of Tiel and Zaltbommel in the north of Tielerwaard. This is a polder, which is part of the landscape Betuwe. In the community intersect at Deil, on the border with southern neighbor municipality Neerijnen, two motorways: the A2 Utrecht - 's- Hertogenbosch, and the A15 Rotterdam - Tiel - Arnhem / Nijmegen. In Geldermalsen also cross two railway lines: Dordrecht - Tiel - Elst ( between Arnhem and Nijmegen ), as Utrecht - 's- Hertogenbosch. The Geldermalsen station is halfway to Tricht in a commercial area. Also the west of Geldermalsen Beesd has a small railway station on the line to Dordrecht. Through the community, including between Geldermalsen and Buurmalsen flows Linge. This little river is mainly used for water sports tourism is important.
Main sources of income are the cattle and the cultivation of fruit trees. Next there is, especially in Geldermalsen itself, much small businesses and some industry (including processing of agricultural products).

History
Almost all the villages of the municipality during the Middle Ages around a castle, a manor or a fortified large farm. Important noble families from this area are, inter alia, Ter Leede, of the family of Mr van Arkel; Van Malsen; De Cocq, whose ancestor came from a Count de Châtillon from Blois in France; Pieck, and others. Geldermalsen came to economic prosperity, as in the late 19th century and emerged in the 20th century, the fruit production for export, and the village got a railway station. On June 25, 1967, the village Tricht was hit by a cyclone type. It found five inhabitants to death, and 50 houses were destroyed. A memorial in the village still remembers it.

Attractions
- A bike ride through the community, where almost all places a beautiful, medieval village church have ( for example, the Pieterskerk in Beesd ), is especially worthwhile in April, when the fruit trees are in full bloom. One should also not forget the dykes in the picturesque charges.
