Gerolsheim

Gerolsheim is a municipality in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Bad Durkheim, located in the northwest of the European Metropolitan Region Rhine -Neckar. It belongs to the municipality green town and country.

History

In the year 915 Gerolsheim was first mentioned in documents as Geroltesheimero.

Until 1969, the village belonged to the ( extinct ) District Frankenthal. In 1972, the assignment to the newly created municipality green town and country.

The hazardous waste landfill Gerolsheim was closed after decades of efforts of the residents in 2003.

Religion

In 2007, 41.2 percent of the population Protestant and 29.5 percent Catholic. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were.

The blazon of the arms is: " In a red three -pronged fish spear silver iron, down both sides of each with a golden rose with blue slug beseitet ".

It was approved in 1926 by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior and goes back to a seal of 1541st The trident is the patron saint St. Leger.
