Tiefenthal

Tiefthal is a municipality in the district of Bad Durkheim in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Hettenleidelheim.

Geographical location

The municipality is located in a small valley floor with northern slope between ice and Eckbachtal in the Palatinate. Until 1969, the village belonged to the ( extinct ) District Frankenthal.

History

In 1318, the church was first mentioned in documents as Dyfendal. The issue here seems to have found a Marian pilgrimage church, which was in 1330 awarded by each bishop and Worms in 1380 by the papal legate, Cardinal Pileus de Prato a drain. The blazon of the arms is: " In a golden red Tatzenkreuz ".

It was approved in 1983 by the district government Neustadt and goes back to a seal from the year 1724. It is the coat of arms of the Counts of Leiningen- Westerburg borrowed, which Tiefthal belonged.
