Ghazipur district

The district Ghazipur (Hindi: ग़ाज़ीपुर जिला ) is a district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Administrative center is the eponymous town of Ghazipur.

Geography

The district Ghazipur is located in eastern Uttar Pradesh on the border of the neighboring Federal State of Bihar. The district has an area of ​​3,377 square kilometers and is the Ganges, India 's largest river, flows through. History

The district Ghazipur was established by the British after they had brought the region under their rule in 1775.
