Hamilton Shirley Amerasinghe

Hamilton Shirley Amerasinghe ( born March 18, 1913 in Colombo, † 4 December 1980) was a politician from Sri Lanka.

After attending the University of Colombo, who was then a partner of the University of London, and the conclusion of 1934, he entered in 1937 in the administration of his native country a.

After a few chores at home he was in 1953 sent to the Embassy of the then called Ceylon in Washington, DC, where he remained until 1955. In 1957, he became the representative of Ceylon at the UN General Assembly. He returned home and took over 1961 the Treasury. In 1963 he went abroad again. He was Minister of Ceylon in India, Nepal and Afghanistan. In 1967 he took over the post of Ambassador to the United Nations. He was also involved in the conference of non-aligned states. He was also ambassador to Brazil since 1973.
