Hans-Peter Pohl

Hans -Peter Pohl ( born January 30, 1965 in Triberg im Schwarzwald ) is a former German nordic combined. He was Olympic champion in the team along with Thomas Müller and Hubert Schwarz. Hans -Peter Pohl 's ARD expert on the TV coverage of the Nordic Combined.

Career

Beginnings in skiing

Pohl grew up in Schonach, where he lives with his wife Anna and three children today. At age six, Hans -Peter started with the Nordic combined. After his high school degree in 1980, he completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker and undertook thereafter in the army. On December 28, 1972 Pohl celebrated his first victory in ski jumping. 1977 followed the first success in the combination, Pohl took second place in the German students Championship in Warmensteinach. In 1979 he became German champion in the age group up to 14 years.

The first successes

In the following years, Hans -Peter Pohl twelve times German champions, including four times in the seniors. Twice he won the Alpincup overall victory in the Nordic combined and special jumping.

His international debut Pohl at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 1985 in Tasch and Zermatt. He won the silver medal in singles. On March 16, 1985, he finally made ​​his debut in the World Cup Nordic Combined and reached in Oslo immediately sixth scoring points and a place in the top ten. With this one result he reached in the overall standings with rank 10 the best overall result of the career. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1987 in Oberstdorf, he landed in the Gundersen single in eighth, before the team competition, he won the gold medal together with Hermann Wine Book and Thomas Müller. After the World Cup he missed in Lahti and fourth positions respectively as Falun marginally podium ranks. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1988 he won the gold medal together with Müller and Hubert Schwarz. Also in the next World Cup race, he stayed in the points, but remained from a podium until 1991. It was not until January 5, 1991 in Schonach he reached his first and only podium with third place.

In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1991 in Val di Fiemme Pohl landed in fifth place of retail competition and missed the team's fourth barely a medal. Also at the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville in 1992, he missed the team a title defense significantly and came in fifth.

In 1993 he played his last World Cup and retired in connection from the active sportsman existence back.

After sports
