Hotonnes
Hotonnes is a commune in the French department of Ain, in the Rhône -Alpes.
Geography
Hotonnes is located at 740m above sea level. Level, about 27 kilometers north of the town of Belley (air line). The farming village extends in the southeastern Bugey, a scenic location on a Verebnungsfläche on the eastern slope of the valley of the Séran, in the valley of the Valromey, at the foot of the ridge, the north stretches the Cret du Nu from Grand Colombier.
The area of 28.40 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Valromey. The Valromey forms a broad valley between two high, oriented in north-south direction Jura ridges. The western municipal boundary runs along the Séran, which flows into the open Talniederung the upper Valromey south. From the river, the municipality's area extends eastward across the slope of Hotonnes to the subsequent broad ridge, which is partly composed of forests, partly by mountain pastures. To the north of the municipality of soil ranges on the vast plateau de Retord which is flanked to the east by the crest of the Cret du Nu. Near the summit of which is with 1338 m above sea. M. reached the highest elevation of Hotonnes.
To Hotonnes addition to the actual site includes various hamlets and farmhouses, namely:
- La Rivoire (760 m above sea level. M. ) on the eastern slope of the valley of the Séran
- Les Plans- d'Hotonnes (1050 m above sea level. M. ) in a trough on the high plateau of Retord
Neighboring communities of Hotonnes are Billiat in the north, Injoux - Génissiat in the east, the south and Songieu Ruffieu and Le Grand- Abergement in the West.
History
Since the 13th century Hotonnes formed a parish, which was dependent on Ceyzérieu. In the 14th century the village belonged as a fief to the possession of the lords of Lhuyrieu ( at BÃ © ), which were under the suzerainty of the Counts of Savoy. The Treaty of Lyon Hotonnes arrived in 1601 to France.
Attractions
The parish church of Saint-Roman was built in the 16th century in Gothic style. In La Rivoire is a small country chapel.
Population
With 299 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Hotonnes is one of the small communities of the department of Ain. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century, a continuous increase in population was recorded since the early 1980s again.
Economy and infrastructure
Hotonnes was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture and forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises, including a sawmill. Meanwhile, the village has changed thanks to the lovely position into a residential community. Many working population commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.
The plateau in Les Plans- d'Hotonnes has evolved in recent decades become a popular winter sports resort. It is primarily focused on the Nordic skiing thanks to the great expansion of the plateau, but there are also some short downhill slopes that are accessible by several ski lifts.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road, leading from Ruffieu over the Col de Richemond after Injoux in the Rhône valley. Further road links exist with Songieu and Le Grand- Abergement.
