Hotonnes

Hotonnes is a commune in the French department of Ain, in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

Hotonnes is located at 740m above sea level. Level, about 27 kilometers north of the town of Belley (air line). The farming village extends in the southeastern Bugey, a scenic location on a Verebnungsfläche on the eastern slope of the valley of the Séran, in the valley of the Valromey, at the foot of the ridge, the north stretches the Cret du Nu from Grand Colombier.

History

Since the 13th century Hotonnes formed a parish, which was dependent on Ceyzérieu. In the 14th century the village belonged as a fief to the possession of the lords of Lhuyrieu ( at BÃ © ), which were under the suzerainty of the Counts of Savoy. The Treaty of Lyon Hotonnes arrived in 1601 to France.

Attractions

The parish church of Saint-Roman was built in the 16th century in Gothic style. In La Rivoire is a small country chapel.

Population

With 299 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Hotonnes is one of the small communities of the department of Ain. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century, a continuous increase in population was recorded since the early 1980s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Hotonnes was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture and forestry village.
