Jānis Ķipurs

Jānis Ķipurs ( born March 3, 1958 in Kurmene, Aizkraukle County ) is a former Latvian bobsledder who competed for the Soviet Union.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988, he won with his brakeman Vladimir Kozlov the gold medal in two-man bob. In the large carriage he took the bronze medal with his team. Kipurs benefited from the efforts of the Soviet Union in the eighties. Thus, an artificial ice rink was built in his Latvian homeland in Sigulda.
