Tony Nash (bobsledder)

Anthony James Dillon ( "Tony" ) Nash, MBE ( born March 18, 1936 in Amersham, Buckinghamshire ) is a former British bob pilot. Together with his brakeman Robin Dixon, he formed one of the most successful Zweierbobteams 1960s.

Nash was director of the family-owned engineering company that was involved in the early 1960s with the construction of bobsleigh. Dixon sought in 1961 for a replacement for its pilots Henry Taylor, who had had an accident in a car race, and came across Nash. Her first success was the third place in the World Cup 1963 in Igls. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 followed the same path of career highlight by winning the gold medal. In the third run, a bolt had broken off at its Bob, so that a start in the decisive fourth round would not have been possible. But the Italians Eugenio Monti, one of its toughest rivals, put a pin of his own Bob available.

At the World Championships 1965 in St. Moritz Dixon and Nash were again the fastest. The 1966 World Cup in Cortina d' Ampezzo, they finished in third place. At the end of the career followed at the Olympic Winter Games 1968, the fifth place on the path of L' Alpe d' Huez.

One of the curves of the Olympia Bob Run St. Moritz- Celerina is named after Nash and Dixon, the Nash - Dixon Corner.
