Jean- Éric Vergne ( born April 25, 1990 in Pontoise ) is a French racing driver. In 2010 he won the British Formula 3 in 2010 and 2011 he competed in the Formula Renault 3.5 and was there in 2011 second in the drivers' standings. Since 2012 he is driving for Scuderia Toro Rosso in Formula 1 at the start.

Career

Vergne began his motorsport career in 2001 in karting, where he was active until 2006. Among other things, he was seventh in the 2006 Formula A Karting World Championship and runner-up of the French championship. 2007 moved Vergne in the Formula racing and competed in the French Formula Renault Campus. With six wins and four additional podium finishes he has already secured his first season in the championship. 2008 Vergne moved to SG Formula and launched 2.0 Eurocup and in the Western European Formula Renault for his team in Formula Renault. Although he did not win a race, but was in both series the best newcomer. In the Western European Formula Renault he finished fourth and won the title of the French Formula Renault, which was awarded to the best French this championship. 2010 moved Vergne in the British Formula 3 Championship, where he went to the start for Carlin. With two wins on the first weekend it was a strong debut. 2011 Vergne entered for Carlin in Formula Renault 3.5 as team-mate Robert Wickens on. At Spa -Francorchamps and Le Castellet he decided depending on a race at the Hungaroring race both for itself. With the introduction of permanent Formula 1 race numbers 2014 Vergne chose the # 25 for his future career. The number was previously used from 1979 to 1995 by the French Ligier team and various French drivers.
