John H. Capstick

John Henry Capstick ( born September 2, 1856 in Lawrence, Essex County, Massachusetts, † March 17, 1918 in Montville, New Jersey ) was an American politician. Between 1915 and 1918 he represented the State of New Jersey in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

John Capstick attended the public schools of his home. In 1868 he moved with his parents to Providence in Rhode Iceland, where he attended a trade school. In the years 1870 and 1871 he was a member of the state militia of Rhode Iceland. 1883 came Capstick by Montville, New Jersey, where he worked in the clothing manufacturing. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party. Between 1905 and 1908 he was a member of the Commission of the State of wastewater; 1908 to 1914 he headed the National Health Committee.

In the congressional elections of 1914 Capstick was in the fifth electoral district of New Jersey in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William E. Tuttle on March 4, 1915. After a re-election, he could remain until his death on March 17, 1918 in Congress. In this time of the entry of the United States fell in the First World War.
