Joseph Gallagher

Joseph Gerard Gallagher ( born May 4, 1964 in London ), known as Joe Gallagher, is an Anglo- Swiss chess player and chess book author.

Joe Gallagher 1987 International Master and carries since 1991 the Grandmaster title of World Chess Federation FIDE. He was British Champion in 2001, but since the late 1980s, living in Switzerland, where he won a total of six times the national championship ( 1997, 1998, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2012 ). It is equipped with an Elo of 2479 Vadim Milov behind, Yannick Pelletier, Sebastian Bogner and Florian Jenni number five in Switzerland (March 2014).

Gallagher is also known as an author on various chess openings and especially as a pendant and a specialist in the King's Indian defense.

National

Since 1997, Gallagher has participated with the Swiss national team at all eight Chess Olympiads, in all nine European Team Championships and at the World Team Championship in 1997.

Chess club

In the British Four Nations Chess League ( 4NCL ) Gallagher played in the 1998/99 season at Home House, in the 1999/2000 season at index -IT, and from 2000 to 2002 Beeson Gregory and from 2002 to 2009 Guildford A & DC. He won the 4NCL 2001, 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2008. In the Swiss National League A Gallagher played until 2007 at the Biel Chess Society, with which he 2000, 2001 and 2004, won the team championship. From 2008 to 2010 he played in Lausanne Le Joueur, since 2011 Gallagher plays at SC Réti Zurich and was with this in 2011 and 2013 Swiss team champion. In the German Chess Bundesliga Gallagher played from 1996 to 2002 at SV Castrop -Rauxel and from 2002 to 2004 for Werder Bremen. In the French Top 16 Gallagher played from 2004 to 2006 at the Association Cannes Echecs.
