La Bretenière, Doubs

La Bretenière is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Bretenière is located on 335 m, 7 km west-northwest of Baume- les -Dames and about 25 km northeast of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the rolling countryside between the river valleys of Doubs and Ognon, in a wide valley at the headwaters of the Ruisseau de la bulge east of Mont Bichoux.

The area of ​​4:16 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the extreme north- western ridges of the Jura. The central part of the area occupied by the wide valley that is drained to Ognon by the Ruisseau de la bump to the north. It is mainly passed with arable and meadow land. The valley floor of La Bretenière in the west by a steep slope, the thickly forested mountain to the Bois du Mont ( northeastern continuation of the Mont Bichoux ) is flanked on passes. History

In the Middle Ages La Bretenière belonged to the rule Clerval, which was under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard since the 14th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France.

The single village church of La Bretenière was built in the 18th century in classical style.

Population

With 63 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) La Bretenière is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 142 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

La Bretenière was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Baume- les -Dames by Cendrey. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 15 km. Further road links exist with Val -de- Roulans and Battenans -les -Mines.
