110 grams of enriched uranium found in a front yard in the district of Lauenfoerde On February 22, 2007. The owner of the garden had set the competent authorities for years about the radioactive material in knowledge, was not taken seriously. The non- bombarded pellets probably from the former Siemens plant in Hanau.

The man - who had been, according to his lawyer in psychiatric treatment - had previously informed the authorities several times, but had not been taken seriously. The material consisted of 14 pellets, each 7.8 grams of uranium with 3.7- percent enrichment, such as those used for the production of fuel rods. According to the man that had received the pellets in 1991 by an acquaintance who had in turn stolen from the 1995 set-aside MOX fuel fabrication plant of Siemens in Hanau. He wanted to draw attention to the poor security situation in the factory by the theft and its disclosure.

The proximity of the locality to Würgassen nuclear power plant and the fact that the man was there a time as the cleaning power, had fueled speculation that the material might have come from there. That conclusion is contrary to that, according to the power plant operator, which were confirmed by the authorities, never pellets were used in the composition found in Würgassen. In contrast, it is exactly the type that has been processed in Hanau, what the details of the man relies, even if so far could not be clarified in what way the pellets could be smuggled out of the factory.
