Mikael Granlund

Mikael Antero Granlund (* 26 February 1992 in Oulu ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since May 2012 for the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League contract. His younger brother Mark is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Mikael Granlund began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at the age of five years in the Kempeleen Kiekko - Ketut, who four years later renamed in laser HT. For laser he played until 2006 in various junior leagues of Finland, under andererm in the Junior C -SM- liiga. In 2006 he moved to the junior level of Kärpät Oulu, for whom he played until 2009 in the Junior B and Junior A- SM- liiga.

For the professional team of Kärpät he gave during the 2008 /09 season his debut in the SM- liiga. The attacker was point and impunity in two games. He was then selected in the KHL Junior Draft 2009 in the second round than a total of 41 players from HK Dinamo Minsk. First, he remained in Finland, where he earned a contract with HIFK Helsinki signed for the season 2009/10. In May 2012, Granlund signed a NHL entry-level contract term of three years in the wild. Because of the lockout at the start of the 2012/13 season Granlund played for the farm team of the game, the Houston Aeros in the American Hockey League. After the lockout ended, he was appointed to the NHL squad and gave 19 January 2013 at his NHL debut for the Wild, where he scored his first NHL goal against Semyon Varlamov of the Colorado Avalanche.

Internationally

For Finland Granlund participated in the U18 Junior World Championship 2009, the U20 World Youth Championship in 2009 and the U20 World Youth Championship, 2010. In the U18 World Championships, he won the bronze medal with Finland.

In the senior level, he played at the World Cup 2011, where the 3-0 semi-final victory of his team against Russia, he scored a lot of attention and spectacular goal. 1:0 For he met, by standing behind the gate of the Russian goalkeeper Konstantin Barulin to the Puck picked up the face of his racket and so placed him in the upper corner of the goal of the short gon.
