Mondolfo

Mondolfo is a municipality with 11,693 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the extreme south of the province of Pesaro and Urbino; on the hills above the river Cesano.

Mondolfo borders with a length of about 20 kilometers in the province of Pesaro and Fano on the communities of San Costanzo, as well as to the province of Ancona and Senigallia with communities Monterado and finally east to the Adriatic Sea. It was the favorable position of the Mondolfo protected from the attacks of the barbarians and the Cossacks and the Della Rovere dukes of Urbino prompted to build one of today 's most beautiful and safest strongholds. To this day, in memory of that time, the ducal crown is in the town crest. Mondolfo is the fourth largest municipality in the province of Pesaro- Urbino.
