Nam Som District

Amphoe Nam Som ( Thai: อำเภอ น้ำโสม ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the northwestern province of Udon Thani. The Udon Thani Province is located in the northeast region of Thailand, the so-called Isaan.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise): Amphoe Na Yung and the Ban Phue in the province of Udon Thani, Amphoe Suwannakhuha the province Nongbua Lamphu and Amphoe Pak Chom Loei province.

History

Nam Som was on May 12, 1969 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the two Tambon Nam Som and Na Yung were separated from Amphoe Ban Phue. The third Tambon Nong Waeng was added on July 4, 1969. Nam Som was promoted on 1 April 1974 to Amphoe.

Administrative units

Amphoe Nam Som is ( tambon) divided into seven municipalities, which in turn in 80 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Na Ngua ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล นา งัว ), consisting of parts of the tambon Na Ngua and Si Samran,
  • Nam Som ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล น้ำโสม ), consisting of other parts of the tambon Si Samran and from parts of Nam Som.

There are also seven Tambon Administration Organization ( " Tambon Administrative Organization" - TAO, Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ).

Note: The missing numbers belong to tambon which now belong to Na Yung.
