Neudau is a market town with 1217 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the judicial district Fürstenfeld or Hartberg - Fürstenfeld in Styria ( Austria ).

Geography

Geographical location

Neudau is located about 15 km south-east of the district capital Hartberg and about 50 km east of the provincial capital of Graz to the Lafnitz. Neudau is located on the eastern edge of the hill country of eastern Styria on the border to the Burgenland, from which it is separated only by the Lafnitz.

The western part of the municipality is covered by the Neudauer forest, while in the middle with the fox tail pond and the Grand Neudauer pond are two lakes. The populated area is located on the banks of Lafnitz, which here run the first Angersbach, later praising the creek in about one kilometer distance from the river.

Neudau is off the major roads. The South A 2 motorway from Vienna to Graz is about nine miles away and over the exit Sebersdorf / Badwaltersdorf (126 ) to reach. The running in the neighboring Burgenland Steger Straße 57a B to Fürstenfeld is about four miles away, which also Burgenland Güssing road B 57 of Oberwart to Güssing is about eight kilometers away.

Neudau no longer has a railway connection, has been after the branch line Bierbaum - Neudau shut down the spa train on December 12, 1987, now dismantled. The nearest railway station is located in Bad Walter village and provides access to its thermal lift with two hourly regional train connections to Vienna and Fehring.

Graz Airport is about 70 km away.

Coat of arms

The award of the municipality coat of arms was made with effect from 1 July 1959. Blazon: In the black shield erect a silver wolf, who will be accompanied on the top right of the five-petal red and goldbesamten rose with green leaves angle.
