Rabenwald with 610 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) is a municipality in the district court Fürstenfeld and in the political district of Hartberg - Fürstenfeld in Styria ( Austria ).

Geography

Geographical Location

Rabenwald located in Pöllauer valley in Joglland. The community is located about 15 km west of the district capital Hartberg and about 30 km northeast of the provincial capital of Graz. Rabenwald is above Pöllau right of Pöllauer Safens, whose tributaries they drained.

The territory of Rabenwald rises from the east from the valley of the Pöllauer Safens to her. The highest elevations located on the western border with the municipality Rabenwald mountain ( 1280 m above sea level. A. ) and the Krughofkogel ( 1117 m), which is connected with Feistritzwerke in Anger by a ropeway. Talc is transported by floating Hunte to Talkummühle in Anger.

The award of the municipality coat of arms came into effect on 1 October 1999.

Regional Policy

Rabenwald is a member of the Association of Municipalities Pöllauer valley, and with this in LEADER Oststeirisches region heartland. December 7, 2010 was Pöllauer valley constituted as Regionext small region. At the municipal structural reform 2010-2015 Rabenwald will probably merge with all four other municipalities in the micro-region.

Traffic

Rabenwald is off the major roads. Apart from the road to the neighboring Stubenberg there are in the community with no through traffic. The South A 2 motorway from Vienna to Graz is 21 km away and can be reached via the junction Hartberg (115). The distance to the changing road B 54 from Hartberg to track village is approximately 15 km, the distance to the Weiz road B 72 from Weiz to Krieglach about 18 km.

Rabenwald is not connected to the railway network. Within a radius of ten kilometers, there is no train station.

Graz Airport is about 60 km away.

Established businesses

On Rabenwald Kogel commodity talc is mined by the company Imerys Talc Austria GmbH. It is the largest talc deposits in Central Europe.
