Geography

Geographical Location

Ebersdorf is located on the Pöllauer Untersafen in the hills of Eastern Styria. The community is located about ten kilometers south of the district capital of Hartberg and about 40 km northeast of the provincial capital of Graz. In addition to the Pöllauer Untersafen the municipality to the south by Nörningbach, a tributary of the Pöllauer Safens, flows through the homonymous valley. The northern boundary of the municipality is made of Dombach, a tributary of the Hartberger Untersafen.

The municipality consists of the following cadastral municipalities and towns of the same name: Ebersdorf ( 782 Ew. ) Nörning and Wagenbach (206 Ew. ) ( Inhabitants as of 2011) ( 241 Ew. ).

Incorporations

In 1968, the independent community Wagenbach and a part of the community Neustift bei Sebersdorf were combined with Ebersdorf.

History

Eberhard village was first mentioned in 1170, and points to its founder Eberhard von Oeblarn. Nörning 1255 first mentioned as Nurdinch and Wagenbach in 1423 in a document.

1418 invaded Hungary, in 1529 and in 1532 the Turks. 1532, the village was completely devastated. Middle of the 16th century was the village from 17 yards and a mill. 1605 destroyed the village hajdús the most part. 1705 burned the Kuruzzen large parts of the village down. 1770 Ebersdorf was Ebersdorf mountain own cadastral, since 1849 Ebersdorf own local church.

Coat of arms

Coat Description: "In a silver and green split shield front three red roses goldbesamte, behind a silver cross of St. Andrew. "

The roses indicate the agricultural community area, the Cross of St. Andrew symbolizes the patron of the parish Ebersdorf.

The municipal coat of arms is out since March 23, 1970.

Regional Policy

The municipality is part of the LEADER region Oststeirisches heartland, and since 2007 has been part of the ecoregion Kaindorf.

On 20 November 2011, the voters of the municipalities Dienersdorf, Ebersdorf, Großhart, Hartl, Hofkirchen voted in Hartberg, Kaindorf and Tiefenbach bei Kaindorf as to whether, these seven churches are to be merged at the community structure reform from 2010 to 2015 to a large community. With a turnout of 65.66 % total of 3351 valid votes were counted. Of these, only 436 voters spoke (13% ) for a merger of the municipalities, while 2915 voters (87% ) voted against a merger. This clearly rejected the plans of the Styrian Provincial Government was granted.

A concept from 2012/13 sees Eberdorf before their own.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Ebersdorf is located on the main road of Sebersdorf after Kaindorf. This road provides direct access to the major roads: In Sebersdorf the South A 2 motorway to Vienna and Graz at the junction Sebersdorf / Badwaltersdorf (126 ) is reached in about four kilometers, in Kaindorf in about five kilometers from the Exchange Street B 54 of Hartberg to track village.

Ebersdorf village has no railway line. The nearest railway station is located about four kilometers in Sebersdorf and provides access to its thermal lift with two hourly regional train connections to Vienna and Fehring.

Graz Airport is accessible via the South highway and about 65 km away.

Structures

  • Parish Church of St. Andrew: The parish church was built in the years 1756 to 1758 and is dedicated to Saint Andrew. The side altars and the pulpit of Jacob Payer date from the 1767. The high altar is by Joseph Alexander Wonsidler.

Theater

In the spacious hall culture often concerts, readings and theater performances are held. The hall can also be rented for private purposes. Since 2007, the community is part of the ecoregion Kaindorf.
