Sankt Johann in Herbersteins with 374 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) is a municipality in the district court Fürstenfeld and in the political district of Hartberg - Fürstenfeld in Styria ( Austria ). It is the only place on the middle Feistritzwerke which lies on both banks.

Geographical Location

Sankt Johann in Herbersteins is about 15 km southwest of the district capital of Hartberg and 42 km northeast of the provincial capital of Graz. The municipality is crossed by the Feistritzwerke and is located at the output of Feistitztales in the hills of Eastern Styria. The municipality covers 285 hectares and is inhabited by 350 people.

Sankt Johann in Herbersteins situated on the state road from Kaibing after Stubenberg. The change road B 54 from Hartberg to track village is about two miles away. The South A 2 motorway from Vienna to Graz can be reached via the junction Sinabelkirchen (150 ) in about 16 km.

The community is not connected to the railway network. Within a radius of ten kilometers there is no Railway Station.

Graz Airport is about 45 km away.

In 14 factories around 60 jobs will be offered. In just the last three years, 30 new jobs will be created. The diversity of plants results in a wide range of crafts, trade, services and tourism businesses.

A significant contribution to the conservation of the landscape make the four full- time farmers (two wine growers, organic farmers and livestock farm ) as well as several part-time farmers.

Education

Structures

The most striking feature of the place, the local parish church, dedicated to St. John; they stands on the site of the first brick church in the middle Feistritztal.
