Geography

Geographical Location

Blaindorf is about 15 km southwest of the district capital of Hartberg and about 35 km northeast of the provincial capital of Graz in the hills of Eastern Styria. The municipality is situated on the Feistritzwerke, a tributary of the Lafnitz.

The municipality consists of the cadastral Blaindorf Blaindorf and Hofing or from the villages Blaindorf (280 inhabitants), Hofing (137 inhabitants) and Illensdorf (250 inhabitants) (population as of 2011).

History

Blaindorf was first mentioned in 1385 as Pluementarff documented. From 1441 to 1848 Blaindorf is in possession of the Herber Steiner. 1475 the village among the brothers Anton von Herber stone, Hanns von Herber stone and Friedrich was divided by Herber stone. During the second village expansion in the 17th and 18th centuries, young settlers were timber rights and pastures.

Illensdorf was first mentioned in Montforter land register in the 14th century. The first settlement expansion took place in 1640, which since the late Middle Ages the place was limited in the village and therefore many farms were divided to accommodate additional houses. In the 18th century this was no longer possible, so that adjacent forest had to be cleared. Since 1945, primarily single-family homes occur at the edge of the village.

Hinterwald was first mentioned in 1410 as Grasseck documented, but it was first mentioned in 1621 as a settlement since it initially consisted of only a single yard. The village has evolved only slowly, so that the current state has already been reached at the beginning of the 19th century.

Hofing was founded as a farm, probably happen mid-12th century. The location on the Feistritzwerke provided a golden opportunity to build a mill.

The scattered settlement Maieregg originated around 1475 on deforested forest area. To an estate, some other courts have settled.

Coat of arms

With effect from 1 April 1985, the Styrian government of the municipality Blaindorf has awarded its own coat of arms. Blazon: " The stake represents sincerity of convictions, his blue refers to the water, especially the Feistritzwerke that reflects the blue of the sky. The multiplication of lily shows the grouping of the individual towns Maieregg, backwoods, Hofing, Illensdorf and Blaindorf. In the five lilies, the number of the five senses is hidden. Traffic

Blaindorf is off the main roads, since the construction of the bypass on the L 304 is Blaindorf free from through traffic. The change road B 54 from Hartberg to track village is about three miles away. The South A 2 motorway from Vienna to Graz is on the junction Sebersdorf / Badwaltersdorf (126 ) about 12 km and reach to the junction Sinabelkirchen (150 ) in about 14 km.

In Blaindorf and surroundings there is no train station.

Graz Airport is about 55 km away.

The cadastral Blaindorf, with the branch church Blaindorf St. Roch and Sebastian (former parish church ), belongs to the parish Großsteinbach, the KG Hofing to the parish Pischeldorf (both deanery track village).

Sports

The Feistritztal runs through the community.

The curling club ESV Blaindorf has reached national significance through its services. In 1988, the women's team Founded in 1981, the club was promoted to the Austrian State League.
