Nimritz

Nimritz is a municipality in the administrative community Oppurg in the Thuringian Saale- Orla-Kreis.

Geography

Nimritz is located south west of Oppurg and south of the state road 281 from Gera to Saalfeld and also south of the railway line between the same cities. The hall of the municipality Nimritz is located on a flat northern slope, which is crisscrossed with rugged gullies and a creek. It is the transition of the East Thuringian Slate Mountains to Orlasenke.

History

Nimritz was first mentioned in December 1074.

There was a water castle on the site of preserved castle. Castle and church were probably once a unit.

In the 13th century a Ministerialengeschlecht of Nimritz was mentioned, which was in the following Orlamünder counts and later Wettin dynasty vassal was. In 1383 the castle was owned by the lords of Beulwitz and in the 16th century the lords of Etzdorf owners were. The Gothic building was rebuilt in 1560 and enlarged in the 17th and 18th centuries. 1946 you broke a part from the tower. The castle was restored by 2005.

The volunteer fire department Nimritz was founded in autumn 1883.
