Schmorda

Schmorda is a municipality in the administrative community Ranis - goats back in the Thuringian Saale- Orla-Kreis.

Geography

Schmorda is on a higher plateau of the Thuringian Slate Mountains northeast of the Hohenwarte Reservoir. The district is hilly and mostly surrounded by forest. To the south lies Ranis.

History

Schmorda was first documented in 1525. W. Kahl determined the documentary was first mentioned in the year 1379th Until the 19th century copper and spar was mined in several deposits. Subsequently, the agricultural importance, which can still be seen in the four- page courts of anellipse today grew.
