OLT Express Germany ( before OLT - East Frisian air transport) was a German regional airline based in Bremen. On January 27, 2013, it ceased operation, two days later, she filed for bankruptcy.

History

The OLT was in 1958 in Emden ( Ostfriesland) by Jan Jacob Janssen and Martin Decker as East Frisian air taxi - founded Dekker and Janssen OHG. In 1974, the seaside resorts of isolated regional routes, and so the DLT - today's Lufthansa CityLine - split off.

The OLT was until the end of 2011 a subsidiary of Reederei AG Ems at Emden. The OLT was decades worked only from Emden and presented as a supplement to the parent shipping company Ferries a fast connection to the North Sea island of Helgoland, Borkum, Juist and Norderney safe. After the reunification of Germany in Bremen developed a second income with regional scheduled and charter flights, first Germany, then Europe.

For Airbus, the OLT wrapped across Europe from one part of the network traffic with links to Bristol and Toulouse. In addition, the OLT also flew the traffic from Hamburg to Toulouse. For two machines specially Fokker 100 aircraft were purchased. These machines were thus the first jets in the OLT history. In a Europe-wide tender was subject to the OLT in the summer of 2011, the airline Germania, which operates the traffic from November with two Airbus A319 -100.

After the loss of the factory air traffic for OLT Airbus announced in August 2011, only the island of air traffic continues to lead a large part of the fleet for sale and to dismiss 100 of the 120 employees. Instead, the Polish investor Amber Gold took over the line flight operations, air traffic of the island was spun off as an OFD Ostfriesischer air service. In early November 2011, the Amber Gold airlines were given a uniform corporate branding, from OLT was OLT Express Germany, from Jet Air OLT Express Regional ( previously briefly OLT Jetair ) and Yes Airways later OLT Express Poland.

In February 2012, Joachim Klein, former CEO of Euro Wings, new Managing Director of OLT Express Germany. End of March 2012 the acquisition of several departments, including marketing and technology, the insolvent Cirrus Airlines was announced. It should consequently rise to a new base at Saarbrücken Airport, the fleet of Cirrus was not included. In early May 2012, the acquisition was canceled due to upcoming wrongful dismissal of pilots. Instead, the takeover of the airline Contact Air Stuttgart was announced on 5 July 2012, which took place on 1 September 2012.

In August 2012, a new investor was found after the withdrawal of the previous investor Amber gold with the Panta Holding, which owns already Denim Airways was among other things. In 2012, regular flights from Saarbrucken to Hamburg, Munich and Vienna were announced on October 1. On December 14, 2012 OLT Express announced a portion of the newly received routes in January to re-employ shut down and four to five aircraft. In addition, the soon expiring wet-lease contract was not renewed with Swiss.

On the night of January 28, 2013 OLT Express Germany ceased to operate for economic reasons until further notice completely. Prior to negotiations on restructuring the ownership society had failed. The date in the lease operated for Swiss routes to and from Zurich to be taken with immediate effect by themselves and Helvetic Airways. On January 29, 2013, the company finally filed for bankruptcy.

Except for small processing teams and the staff of the maintenance operation in Saarbrücken, which is to be continued, was now terminated the most employees.

Destinations

OLT Express Germany served last regular service multiple routes to destinations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark and France. As of January 2013 resulted in this

There have also been carried out seasonal charter flights for tour operators.

The former by the OLT - island air traffic offered Ostfriesi air transport was the realignment in 2012 by the breakaway OFD - East Frisian taken flight service. The former often carried out by OLT seasonal flights from several cities in German-speaking countries to Usedom was also no longer sold by OLT Express.
