Opel Antara (2006-2010)

The Opel Antara is vehicle manufacturer Opel, which has been produced since the summer of 2006.

This is a limited -terrain sports utility vehicle that is manufactured together with the Chevrolet Captiva at GM Korea (formerly Daewoo ) in South Korea. Since late 2008, it also runs in Shushary, a suburb of St. Petersburg, from the tape.

Among other names being or has been the Antara also offered as a Saturn Vue (until 2008), currently as Holden Captiva 5 in Australia, and as Chevrolet Captiva Sport in Mexico and its large neighbor, the United States, but only in the fleet business with car rental companies. In the U.S., this shorter version of the Chevrolet Captiva as a Chevrolet Equinox or GMC Terrain is offered. These two models are, however, built in Ingersoll and not in Korea.

Model history

The Antara came in November 2006 on the market, with its sister model Captiva already appeared a month earlier.

As of the launch were two petrol engines with 2.4 and 103 kW ( 140 hp ) and 3.2 liters of displacement ready. The diesel engines was first only the 2.0 CDTI with 110 kW ( 150 hp), which in May 2007, a smaller version with 93 kW followed (127 hp).

Facelift

In autumn 2010, a facelift was performed in which both front and rear has been adapted to the current Opel brand design.

Market position

The Antara was in 2010 with 1226 new registrations in Germany itself one of the worst selling models from a German manufacturer. Among all the SUV market share is well below half a percent. Antara GTC
