Opel Antara (2006-2010)
The Opel Antara is vehicle manufacturer Opel, which has been produced since the summer of 2006.
This is a limited -terrain sports utility vehicle that is manufactured together with the Chevrolet Captiva at GM Korea (formerly Daewoo ) in South Korea. Since late 2008, it also runs in Shushary, a suburb of St. Petersburg, from the tape.
Among other names being or has been the Antara also offered as a Saturn Vue (until 2008), currently as Holden Captiva 5 in Australia, and as Chevrolet Captiva Sport in Mexico and its large neighbor, the United States, but only in the fleet business with car rental companies. In the U.S., this shorter version of the Chevrolet Captiva as a Chevrolet Equinox or GMC Terrain is offered. These two models are, however, built in Ingersoll and not in Korea.

Model history
The Antara came in November 2006 on the market, with its sister model Captiva already appeared a month earlier.
As of the launch were two petrol engines with 2.4 and 103 kW ( 140 hp ) and 3.2 liters of displacement ready. The diesel engines was first only the 2.0 CDTI with 110 kW ( 150 hp), which in May 2007, a smaller version with 93 kW followed (127 hp).

Facelift
In autumn 2010, a facelift was performed in which both front and rear has been adapted to the current Opel brand design.
For the motors changes were also made. Thus accounted for the 3.2 liter V6 and the 2.4 L Brenziner gasoline engine was now powered by 123 kW (167 hp).
Both 2.0-liter Dieselagggregate were replaced by two 2.2 -liter engines, which have either 120 kW (163 hp) or 135 kW (184 hp).

The Antara is in contrast to his predecessor indirect Frontera available only as a five-door hatchback. It is based on the Theta platform from General Motors, which already Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Captiva, Saturn Vue and Pontiac Torrent share. The top model Cosmo has, among other xenon light, 18 - inch alloy wheels, rain sensor, cruise control, trip computer and Park Pilot.
Specifications
- The CDTI lettering of the 2.0 -liter model with 150 hp model differs from that of the with 127 hp by the red-colored letters TI. The same applies to the 2.2 CDTI with 163 hp here but with black colored letters TI and the 184 hp model is " CDTI " completely black.
Speed and acceleration
With the engines currently available, the Antara reaches maximum speeds 175-200 km / h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes place in 9.6 to 12 seconds.
Prices
The list prices range from 26,780 euros to 40,500 euros (as of September 2012, Germany ) for the models with standard equipment.
Market position
The Antara was in 2010 with 1226 new registrations in Germany itself one of the worst selling models from a German manufacturer. Among all the SUV market share is well below half a percent. This built on the same platform sister model Chevrolet Captiva sold with 3006 copies better, but this just comes down to a market share of 1%. Inside the SUV comparable length ( about 4.6 m), both models come together for a market share of about 5 %, this region is dominated by higher-priced manufacturers.
A total of 2011 15.417 copies were built by Antara in 2010 10.505 and in the year, of which each of 8511 and 13,369 in Bupyong, Korea, and in 1994 and 2048 in St. Petersburg, Russia. According to preliminary figures 2011 Opel Antara has sold a total of 11,595.
Antara GTC
At the IAA 2005 in Frankfurt, the design Antara GTC concept was presented. Unlike the Astra H GTC GTC stands for " Gran Turismo Crossover". It is a crossover between coupe and SUV.
On the 2006 New York Auto Show, the Antara was shown as Saturn PreVue the American public exhibition. Saturn was like Opel also a brand within GM 's, however, was stopped by now. GM wanted to bring together the expertise of each brand, so selected models were offered in the future as both Saturn and Opel as in the respective markets. The Opel GT, for example, corresponded to a few details, the Saturn Sky.

The study is 4.53 m long, 1.97 m wide and 1.64 m high
It is powered by a 1.9 -liter CDTI diesel engine with 156 kW ( 212 hp). The acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes place in 8.0 seconds. The top speed is 210 km / h and the torque at 400 Nm.
A 6- speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive round out the amenities. The all-wheel drive only allows no -road capability, since an additional reduction and locking differentials are missing.
The Antara GTC stands on 20 " chrome wheels with 265 mm wide tires.
Special
- Both front and rear lights work with LED technology
- The front seats are mounted on monorails, not as usual on two rails. They slide on a button to the front to facilitate access to the rear ( easy entry ). A seat occupancy detection verify, that no one is sitting in front.
- The rear seats can be folded down and sunk like the Opel Zafira, thus is a load volume of 2,400 l possible.
- Also from the Zafira comes the panoramic roof construction
- The so-called pantograph hinge opens the tailgate so that you do not have to resign when opening
